The dining room…the place where the holidays happen and memories around the dinner table are made. And then for rest of the year…it’s the room that no one uses! Which…truth be told, I kinda love because then there’s always one perfectly tidy clean room in the house.
Here are a few fun details about this room that helped us save on our renovation costs.
We tiled over the existing flooring to save on demo costs. The is a sunken in room and the fireplace on the back wall had a 2” lip that allowed us to tile over tile without issue. Here’s an instagram post to better explain.
The fireplace mantle is original to the home as well. Instead of replacing it, we used the original mantle as the base and we built on top to raise the overall height.
This bold dining room is currently my favorite room in the house! A solid black wall, marble flooring and a mix of white, black, brass + wood…what’s not to love...
When I first posted a picture of these curtains on Instagram, I had SO many comments and direct messages from people saying they just didn’t believe these are actually painter drop cloths. But I 100% SWEAR that they are!!
If the blog title wasn’t completely giving away my secret that these are DIY curtain rods, would you believe that I made these from inexpensive materials found at Home Depot?? To date, this has been my FAVORITE project. I can’t believe #1 how simple it was, or #2 what an impact it has had on my living room.
For less than $100, I I transformed what was a rustic river rock fireplace into this! A can of presto patch, a piping bag and water and VOILA! In under 24hours we gave this stone fireplace a complete facelift with zero demo.
